Federal Issue Domet Flannel Shirt

The standard issue shirt of the Union Army from the 1850’s until 1872.  This shirt is ENTIRELY hand sewn, no machine sewing whatsoever.
Pattern for this shirt is from an original garment made by A. S. Saroni of New York, featured in a detailed article in the Journal of the Company of Military Historians, Fall 1995.

This is the one size fits all “army standard size and make.”  Neck is 16“, sleeves 33“, chest 48”.

The original shirt  from which this is copied is apparently unissued and never washed so no shrinkage has occurred. 
Techniques of running stitches, whip stitches and felling of seams have been incorporated into this garment.
